The UAW has given Chrysler, the No. 3 US auto maker, a 72-hour strike notice. Here's the skinny:
- Chrysler and the UAW are negotiating a new labor agreement
- Negotiators bargained all weekend
- Talks were set for Monday morning at Chrysler's Auburn Hills, Michigan headquarters
- The UAW put Chrysler on notice that a Tuesday or Wednesday strike is possible if talks stall
- The two sides came to a three-week standstill after recent negotiations
- Sales have sputtered for Chrysler, under its new ownership by Cerberus Capital Management
- Chrysler is moving to slow down production at six assembly plants, including a two-week shut down
